How to Bulk Load Kits

If you need to get multiple kits loaded to Infoplus, put the kit data into an excel or .csv file then upload the file into Infoplus using the Bulk Load process.

For step-by-step instructions on how to bulk load records, take a look at our article on Bulk Loading

The Bulk Load process will allow you to map your source file's fields to Infoplus fields with a variety of options.  Also, if the data you are putting in fields will be the same for all of the records, you can leave it off the file and add them as a default value when mapping.

Important Note: Only bulk load in batches of 5,000 or less except for Orders. You can only bulk upload 1,000 Orders at one time.

  • Best practice is to perform large bulk edits and/or loads outside of peak business hours

Wide vs. Tall Format

When you Bulk Load Kits into Infoplus, you can use one of two different file Formats:

  • Wide Format, where every row in your file creates a single kit, with multiple columns to create multiple Component SKUs (note this format only allows for 25 components for each kit).
  • Tall Format, where every row in your file creates a unique Component SKU (and to create a single kit with multiple components, you must repeat all of the "header" column values for each row).

If your kits are being exported from another system, your file may naturally fall into one of these two formats.  If you are creating the file by hand, either format can be used, though Wide Format is what feels most natural to most people.

Wide Format

Here's an example of what the component columns in a file might look like for a Wide Format upload:

In the example above:

  • Row 1 is the header row for the fields in Infoplus.
  • Row 2 is the first kit that will be built.
  • Row 3 is the second kit that will be built.

Note that any of the Component Item & Quantity columns can be left blank, and this will direct Infoplus to skip creating a line item in that position.  For example, Row 2 has columns H-K is missing Items and Quantities.

Tall Format

Here's an example of what the component columns in a file might look like for a Tall Format upload:

In this example:

  • Row 1 is the headers of the fields in Infoplus.
  • Rows 2-4 will build the first kit.
  • Rows 5-9 will build the second kit.

Note that Infoplus makes the decision to create a unique kit each time it sees any different value in the Kit SKU column.

Required Fields

Below is a list of the required fields for uploading Kits into Infoplus.

NOTE: Your source file does not have to include all of this information. If, for a field, all records you are uploading will have the same value, you can select a Default Value on the  (e.g. if the "Is KOD" for every Kit is the same, your source file doesn't have to, but is also okay if it does, contain this column because you can select a default "Is KOD" during the bulk load).

  • LOB
  • Kit SKU
  • Touches
  • Is KOD
  • KOD Type
  • Component Item 1 SKU
  • Component Item 1 Quantity

(Note: If you are using Wide Format, you may have multiple Component SKU and Quantity columns which you should name as Component Item SKU 1, Component Item Quantity 1, Component Item SKU 2, Component Item Quantity 2, etc.)

Optional Fields

There are some fields that are optional that you might want to use when adding component SKUs.  (Note: these can be added for each component call them, Component Item Instructions 1, Component Item Instructions 2, etc.):

  • Instructions
  • Additional Services
  • Critical

NOTE: These steps provide universal instructions for bulk loading data into any Table in Infoplus; however, all bulk loads work the same. The available fields are just different based on the type of record being uploaded.
